Summer Sale Update: Stores Moving into Fall & a Summer Wardrobe Checklist

Dear Friends,

It has been some time since we have reached out to you.  So much has happened in the last few months, it’s really quite unbelievable.  We hope that everyone is staying safe, healthy, and finding joy wherever possible.  We are well here in LA.  Making the most of each day through business, family, fitness, and COOKING!

Through the course of the quarantine, our goals as stylists have been to offer inspiration through our blog, social media posts, and Pinterest boards (take a look if you have not seen them!) As well as offer virtual services for editing closets, shopping and outfit styling. 

As California has moved into a phase where stores are now tentatively open, we have shared video content of what items are on the sales floor, how dressing rooms are functioning and safety/health protocols to put you more at ease and in the know.  We hope that these videos gave you an idea of how shopping looks right now and offered you some sense of comfort in your decision to shop in-store or not.

Our latest update is to share how the stock is flowing through the stores.  As of the last few weeks, spring/summer merchandise is on sale and many retailers are offering huge markdowns.  The incentive for stores is to move through their stock so that they will have room for fall merchandise which will be arriving in July.  Although this timing is the same as prior years, it offers new challenges to those who have paused on summer shopping due to COVID-19 and all of the changes it has presented to us.

We decided that you might find it helpful to have a Summer Checklist of must-have pieces that will move you through the balance of the season and inspire you to shop your closet, shop in-store when applicable, or shop online.  We encourage you to jump on the sale opportunities now as it will be very hard to find shorts, sundresses sandals, and swimwear in late July/August. Trust us on this!!!!

We were thoughtful when creating this list by considering our new lifestyles that are much more home-focused while also including domestic travel and wellness.  Once you read through this list, take a look in your own closet FIRST!  You might be pleasantly surprised and realize you have most, if not all of what you need.  If you do find you are missing pieces, we are happy to help complete your list by offering virtual shopping services, consignment box deliveries as well as in-store shopping when applicable.  Be it everyone’s situation is unique, we will sensitively create a service that will work best for you.  We consistently display safety guidelines by wearing masks and gloves when working in-person with a client.

Black Friday is HERE! And now you’re left with the question – What the heck do I buy?? There’s so many seemingly great offers to sift through, but we’re here to tell you exactly what’s worth nabbing those deals on: The Luxury Basics and The Versatile Statement.

Luxury Basics

Let’s start with the luxury basics. They’re the pieces you may initially hesitate to buy due to a hefty price, but are trend-resistant quality pieces that will last for years. The goal is to find pieces that are well made and will continue giving back to your wardrobe season to season.

Here Are Some Great Basics We Love:

This is one of those pieces really worth splurging on. A belt may seem like a trivial accessory, but a good belt can elevate an outfit and emphasize figure flattering shapes (see our post: How To Wear a Waist Belt). Invest in a belt like this one that is both flexible and high quality for a wardrobe essential that will withstand the test of time.

Versatile Statement Pieces

The versatile statement piece is a boot, bag, coat, etc. that speaks to the now in pattern or shape, but can be seamlessly inserted into your wardrobe and worn in many ways throughout the season. The idea is to keep your cost per wear in mind. If you can wear it over and over again, it’s likely worth it’s price tag!

Here Are Some Trend-Right Versatile Pieces We Love:

We love how these Loeffler Randall boots are both trend-right in shape AND in pattern, yet can also fit into a range of styles. Think pairing them with anything from dresses and skirts to wearing over your favorite skinny jeans! The wearability here is super high. Croc makes any outfit look oh-so expensive, after all.

You may think a good holiday dress can only be worn once, but we know you can find something better. Opt for a dress that’s elegant enough to play up with great heels and jewelry, but is simple enough to also dress down with a cardigan or blazer. We LOVE this Reformation dress (also available in petite sizes!) that is trend-right in color and has a modern slit. It’s elegant, but simple enough to wear over and over again.
