Post-Covid Event Dressing for Weddings, Graduations and Spring Celebrations!

Event Dressing 101 Post Covid!
With so many people having had to postpone their events, these past 6 months have been a flurry of catch-up weddings, graduations and celebrations!
We’re here to help you navigate the 2022 style for tricky dress codes like black tie optional, cocktail parties, outdoor events and dressy casual.

Things to Consider Before You Shop:

-What is the location of your event? Is the event taking place inside or outside? City, country, or beach?
-What time is the event? The later an event is, the more formal it typically is. This also affects the temperature you should dress for!
-Who is inviting you? Consider their crowd. If your friend is an artist who is surrounded by visionaries, don’t be afraid to dress creatively! If you’re attending your boss’s wedding at the country club however, consider dressing in elegant, conservative pieces.
-Is the event a wedding?
Avoid wearing white or cream based pieces, even if they have a pattern on top!

What is Black Tie Optional for Women?

A Black Tie Optional dress code is the expectation that guests dress formally, but with the option to take a half-step down from true formal evening gown attire. Think dressy, high-shine fabrics! Although it’s standard to wear a long dress, one may also choose to wear an upscale mid-length dress, provided it is dressed up with elegant jewelry and heels. A sharp tuxedo-style women’s suit is also appropriate.

Stylist’s Pick: The Diana Dress

Not only is this dress extremely versatile for wearing more than once, but it comes in just about every color imaginable, comes in three lengths (the longest length is great with heels and upscale jewelry for a black tie optional, midi and mini lengths work great for cocktail parties!!!) and has a contouring shapewear inner-layer that makes you look AMAZING! Adored by celebrities and the public alike, this dress design is so successful that it’s barely changed since it’s conception in the 70’s.

How do You Dress for a Cocktail Party?

Cocktail Party attire is a step under black tie optional. Think playful and panache! Short and midi dresses are expected, pop-colors are allowed with sexier cuts and modern patterns! Pop-color suiting, dresses paired with sharp blazers and upscale tailored jumpsuits are great alternatives!

What to Wear for An Elegant Outdoors Celebration!

Outdoor Spring Events such as weddings, graduations, and special events held in nature are typically defined by the location, nice weather and beautiful scenery. Reference your surroundings by wearing flowy lightweight fabrics, lace, sheerness, botanical and floral prints, and upscale bohemian pieces! If you are dressing for a wedding, it is safest to avoid any heavily white or cream based pattern pieces in respect to the bride.

What to Wear for a Dressy Casual Event

Dressy Casual attire (also referred to as Smart Casual) is a combination of relaxed and refined pieces. Think of fancy day dresses! Shorter dresses, midi dresses in casual fabrics, blouses, blazers, trousers, skirts, and tailored jumpsuits are all welcome! Balancing casual and upscale within your accessories, shoes, tailoring and fabrics is the key to mastering this dress code.
